Traders Bet on What Meta Will Discuss in Upcoming Q2 Earnings Call

Prediction market traders on Kalshi are placing odds on specific topics Meta executives might address during the company's Q2 earnings call, with cloud computing emerging as the most likely discussion point.

Traders Bet on What Meta Will Discuss in Upcoming Q2 Earnings Call

As Meta prepares to report second-quarter earnings after Wednesday’s market close, speculators on prediction market platform Kalshi are wagering on which topics executives will address during the subsequent conference call.

According to CNBC, traders on Kalshi’s “mentions market” — where participants bet on whether specific words will be used during earnings calls or speeches — are assigning a 90% probability that Meta management will say the word “cloud” during the call. This strong conviction comes on the heels of a Bloomberg report from earlier this month indicating that Meta was developing a cloud infrastructure business to sell access to raw computing power.

Smart Glasses and Silicon on the Agenda

The smart glasses partnership with Ray-Ban also appears likely to come up in the discussion. Traders are giving a 74% chance that Meta will mention “Ray-Ban” during the call. The company recently launched a new, more affordable smart glasses model developed with EssilorLuxottica, the parent company of Ray-Ban.

There’s also considerable speculation around Meta’s chip development efforts, with traders placing 61% odds that executives will use the term “silicon” to discuss the company’s semiconductor initiatives.

In contrast, Meta’s data center project in rural Louisiana appears less likely to be a focal point. The market assigns just 27% odds to a mention of “Hyperion,” the name of that particular infrastructure project.

Social Media Policy Likely Off the Table

Despite ongoing regulatory pressures around youth social media use — including the United Kingdom’s recent pursuit of restrictions on children accessing social platforms — traders believe Meta is unlikely to address these concerns. The prediction market shows only a 15% chance that the company will mention “age verification” during the call.

Perhaps most notably, there’s minimal expectation that Meta will discuss its own reported interest in the prediction market space. Traders estimate just a 20% probability that the company will use the terms “prediction market” or “Kalshi” during the call. Reports from June indicated that CEO Mark Zuckerberg had directed staff to build a prediction market platform, and NPR later reported that Meta had at one point been in talks to acquire Kalshi itself.

These betting patterns offer an unusual window into investor and analyst expectations for what Meta might emphasize as strategic priorities in its earnings discussion. The strong odds favoring cloud computing mentions suggest the market sees this as a significant potential expansion area for the company, while the low probability assigned to social media policy discussions may indicate an expectation that Meta will focus on growth opportunities rather than regulatory challenges.

CNBC disclosed that it has a commercial relationship with Kalshi that includes customer acquisition and a minority investment in the platform.
