A new undercover video from the Muckraker team and James O’Keefe is stirring controversy in Minnesota, showing poll workers indicating that individuals claiming to be Hamas members could vote using the state’s voter vouching system. The footage, released this week, has reignited debates over election integrity and the ideological responses of left-leaning officials.
In the video, the undercover reporters, dressed in vaguely Middle Eastern attire, approach a Minnesota polling place and ask whether one person could vouch for multiple men allegedly from Gaza who claimed Hamas affiliation and wanted to vote. According to the footage, the poll workers — despite visible discomfort — assured the supposed jihadis that they could indeed vote using the vouching system.
Poll Workers’ Reactions Highlight Tension
The video captures a middle-aged white woman poll worker who appears to realize the gravity of the situation. Her expression suggests a struggle between reality and ideology as she hears claims of Hamas membership and indeterminate citizenship status. Yet, she does not challenge the scenario, seemingly afraid of offending the individuals or questioning the state’s election system.
Other poll workers seemed to defer legal responsibility to the person vouching, telling the undercover reporters that the voucher must accept liability. One poll worker, however, demanded ID from the alleged Hamas members — a requirement not mandated under Minnesota law, pointing to disagreements among workers about state regulations.
That same ID-demanding worker appeared unfazed by the repeated mention of Hamas affiliation, saying the scenario wasn’t covered by official Minnesota policies. “All those other conditions and stuff, they aren’t on this sheet,” she told the reporters calmly, also noting that college IDs would be acceptable proof. Two Muslim women among the workers also did not seem particularly upset by the exchange.
Elections Office Confrontation
Later, the undercover reporters visited the Minneapolis Office of Elections and Voter Services, where a tattooed worker became hostile when questioned about the vouching system. The interaction added to the video’s portrayal of how election officials handle extreme scenarios.
The video has prompted sharp criticism from conservatives, who argue it exposes vulnerabilities in Minnesota’s voter registration laws. The Muckraker team and O’Keefe framed the stunt as an “extreme test” of the vouching system, asking if it would allow alleged foreign terror organization members to vote.
Commentary on Leftist Ideology
Writing for PJ Media, contributor Catherine Salgado argues the video illustrates how leftists “turn off their brains” to defend policies and ideological positions. She suggests some poll workers genuinely didn’t care about Hamas terrorists voting, possibly viewing Hamas as a liberation organization, while others knew the situation was dangerous but feared speaking up.
Salgado describes the response as “leftist brainwashing,” claiming it prevents people from acting on common sense. She questions how many foreign terrorists might be voting in Minnesota and other Democrat states with weak voter registration laws, though the video provides no evidence of actual voter fraud.
The video has yet to prompt official responses from Minnesota election authorities. The state’s vouching system allows a registered voter to vouch for another person’s eligibility, a process intended to increase access but which critics say is vulnerable to abuse.
