Police Raid Home of Ilhan Omar’s Son, Arrest Roommate on Weapons Charge

Minneapolis police raided the home shared by Rep. Ilhan Omar's son and his roommate, arresting the roommate on a weapons charge after recovering a firearm from his impounded vehicle.

Police Raid Home of Ilhan Omar's Son, Arrest Roommate on Weapons Charge

Police in Minneapolis raided the home of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-Minn.) son, Adnan, arresting his roommate on a weapons charge, according to a statement from the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) shared by Alpha News.

The only person arrested in the raid was Abdulrahman Abdi, Adnan’s roommate. Officers had earlier cited Abdi for driving after cancellation and lack of proof of insurance, impounding his vehicle and recovering a firearm from it. He was later arrested at the apartment he shared with Omar’s son, where police seized guns and ammunition.

Abdi remains in jail on the weapons charge and has 10 prior convictions on his record, including a felony speeding violation, according to records reviewed by The Daily Mail.

It is not clear whether Adnan faces any charges or whether the investigation involves him directly. The MPD statement did not indicate that Adnan was arrested or implicated in Abdi’s alleged crimes.

Omar’s Earlier ICE Confrontation

The raid comes months after Omar publicly criticized Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for stopping her son at a Target store and asking about his citizenship. Omar framed the encounter as racial profiling, but acknowledged that her son was released immediately after showing his passport.

Omar’s critics have pointed to local demographics to argue the stop was reasonable. Minneapolis is home to a large Somali immigrant population, and a January research piece from City Journal found that Somali immigrant men are incarcerated at twice the rate of native-born American peers. Minnesota is a sanctuary state with an estimated 80,000 Somali immigrants.

Family Ties to Fraud Allegations

The raid is not the first time Omar’s family has drawn scrutiny. Omar has been implicated in Minnesota’s ‘Feeding Our Future’ fraud scandal, a scheme that allegedly diverted $250 million in taxpayer funds. Aimee Bock, the convicted mastermind, and other lawmakers have linked Omar to the theft. Court records show emails between Bock and a Somali fraudster titled ‘Ilhan’s Office.’

Omar’s sister, Sahra Noor, registered her company at the same address as the ‘Feeding Our Future’ fraudsters, according to investigative reporting from The Daily Wire’s Luke Rosiak. Noor has since moved to Africa. Additionally, the Republic of Somaliland has accused Omar’s father of complicity in genocide, and Omar has been accused of a sham marriage to her brother to secure his immigration status.

The recent raid adds another chapter to the controversies surrounding Omar and her family. Authorities have not announced any charges against Adnan, and it remains unclear whether he will face legal jeopardy.
