Kruiser argues that the party has shifted from playing a long-term political game to pure rage mode against former President Trump, and now the establishment is trying to paint Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) as a “moderate” in comparison to the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). This comes after Fox News’ Jessica Tarlov claimed that AOC is now a moderate Democrat relative to the “core DSA wing,” a point echoed by entrepreneur Scott Galloway. AOC, a member of NYC DSA, is being positioned as a centrist figure for a potential 2028 presidential run.
Kruiser dismisses this as gaslighting, noting that the DSA has long been an accepted part of the Democratic coalition, not a fringe insurgency. He contends that the party is using the DSA’s more extreme promises—like free housing and unicorn-like policies—to distract from its lack of substantive ideas, while hoping voters won’t notice the shift.
The column also highlights Wisconsin Democratic gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong as the next DSA “problem” for the party, citing her controversial past and an interview with AOC that tried to defend her, but reportedly fell flat.
Kruiser predicts that come November, every Democrat will fully embrace the DSA’s far-left agenda, and he looks forward to the tortured rationalizations they’ll offer to pretend that wasn’t the plan from the start.
